Biography
Engr. Professor Mike Agbesi Acheampong is a Professor of Environmental Chemical Engineering. He has been a Professor in the Chemical Engineering Department at the Kumasi Technical University (KsTU) in Ghana since August 2019. He was the first to become a professor at the university. He is an expert on metallurgical wastewater treatment using sorption technology.
He obtained his B.Sc. (Chemical Engineering) and M.Sc. (Water Supply and Environmental Sanitation) degrees from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi, Ghana, in 1996 and 2005, respectively. In October 2013, he obtained a joint PhD from the UNESCO-IHE Institute for Water Education and the Wageningen University, The Netherlands.
Professor Acheampong is the former Pro Vice-Chancellor of KsTU (September 2019 to August 2022). Until he was appointed the substantive Pro Vice-Chancellor of the University, he was the Interim Vice-Chancellor and Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology at KsTU.
Professor Acheampong's teaching career spans over 20 years. He is an astute researcher and scholar. His research and scholarly work focus on chemical and environmental engineering disciplines. He has participated in over sixty-five (65) workshops, seminars, and training locally and internationally. He organised ten (10) conferences and training seminars. He has published over fifty (50) scholarly papers since 2009 and has received over Nine (9) research grants and scholarships.
Professor Acheampong is a Fellow and Council Member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), Ghana.
