Biography
Dr. Bawa Mbage is a Ghanaian chemist and educator with a Ph.D. in Chemistry from Northeast Normal University, China (2022), and an M.Phil. in Science Education from the University of Education, Winneba (2014). He currently serves as a Lecturer in the Department of Chemistry Education at the University of Education, Winneba, where he also holds the role of Academic Counsellor. His expertise spans scientific research in areas such as functionalized polyoxometalate nanoparticles, chemistry education, curriculum design, and teacher professional development, particularly within Professional Learning Communities. Dr. Mbage has extensive experience in teaching chemistry across basic, secondary, and tertiary levels and is actively engaged in supervising graduate research and reviewing scholarly articles. He has contributed to several journals (over 21 articles) and led training and development programs for science educators in Ghana and beyond. His professional involvement includes memberships in the American Chemical Society and Ghana Science Association, among others. Dr. Mbage’s work integrates experimental chemistry and educational research with a strong commitment to supporting science education and teacher capacity building at all levels of education in African contexts. Through grants and collaborations, Dr. Mbage continues to advance both pure and educational chemistry research, emphasizing the importance of digital literacy, collaborative teaching practices, and sustainable education in African contexts. His work bridges the gap between scientific inquiry and educational practice, particularly focusing on empowering teachers and students in Ghana and sub-Saharan Africa. He currently a School Improvement Advisor on professional learning community, school improvement plan, assessment and school leadership management.
