At a moment of geopolitical realignment and technological acceleration, Africa faces a defining question: who will shape its future, and on what terms? With the world’s youngest population and a rapidly evolving digital economy, the continent stands at a critical juncture.
This plenary sets the stage for eLearning Africa 2026 by examining how education and skills systems can underpin sovereignty, strengthen economies and foster solidarity. It considers the role of AI, data and digital infrastructure in shaping Africa’s trajectory - and what it will take for African societies to define the direction of the global knowledge economy, not simply adapt to it.
