re-Conference Workshops take place on the Wednesday preceding the main conference and require separate registration.

These sessions can be half-day or full-day and are designed to develop practical skills, foster deep knowledge, and explore solutions relevant to the eLearning community through interactive knowledge sharing.

  • Full-day workshops last a maximum of 6 hours, including two coffee breaks and lunch.
  • Half-day workshops last a maximum of 3 hours, including one coffee break. Please note that lunch is not included in half-day workshops.

Facilitators are requested to submit a detailed agenda outlining the planned activities for their half- or full-day session. The eLearning Africa programme team will provide a template to assist with this.

Materials and handouts:

  • Facilitators should notify the eLearning Africa team in advance of any specific materials they may require during the workshop (e.g., post-its, pens), as acquiring these onsite can be challenging. Early requests are highly recommended.
  • Facilitators should bring enough copies of any handouts to distribute, as onsite photocopying facilities are unavailable and external options may be costly and time-consuming.

Plenary Sessions

The eLearning Africa plenary sessions, including the featured Learning Battle and The eLearning Africa Debate, bring together world-class keynote speakers offering fresh perspectives and bold ideas to inspire innovation. These sessions are designed to take you on a journey beyond the conference themes, sparking new thinking and broadening horizons.

The conference offers a series of plenary sessions for the entire audience, with no concurrent sessions. These plenaries include:

  • Keynote Sessions: Held on Thursday and Friday mornings, these sessions feature keynote presentations by leading voices from across sectors and regions.
  • The eLearning Africa Learning Battle: A highly participatory plenary where any participant can step forward to defend their favourite learning method in a three-minute pitch. Guided by energetic hosts, this lively session combines serious reflection with fun and debate, as the audience listens, questions, and ultimately votes to crown the most convincing learning approach — and its champion.
  • The eLearning Africa Debate: The closing plenary on Friday evening features a parliamentary-style debate on a timely and often controversial topic. A panel of experts engages in sharp, informed argument, and the session concludes with audience participation and a final vote on the motion.

Panel Discussions

Focused sessions with short presentations followed by interactive discussions to gain a deeper understanding and to share ideas. The moderator leads a lively discussion with panellists and the audience.

To make the most of this format, speakers are encouraged to

  • Come prepared to share clear, concise insights rather than formal presentations.
  • Engage actively with fellow panellists to foster meaningful discussion.
  • Be ready to respond to curated questions and audience input.
  • Bring real-world examples, challenges, and trends to stimulate debate and enrich the conversation.
