Violette Uwamutara Regional Advisor, Africa and Country Director, DOT Rwanda Digital Opportunity Trust (DOT)
Violette Uwamutara is the Regional Advisor for Africa and Country Director of DOT Rwanda at Digital Opportunity Trust, and a leader in bridging the digital divide in Africa. A former diplomat with the Government of Rwanda, Violette is committed to transforming Africa into a digital innovation hub with young women at the centre. In partnership with the World Economic Forum’s Internet for All Initiative, Rwanda’s Ministry of ICT and Innovation, and DOT, Violette has led the development and launch of the cross-sectoral Digital Ambassador Program (DAP), which places youth at the centre of large-scale digital transformation in local communities; Violette also serves as regional advisor for the multinational expansion of the initiative. Violette is a member of the African Leadership Network (ALN), sits on the YouthConnekt Africa and Girl Effect Rwanda committees, and has been recognized with the prestigious Anita Borg International Change Agent Award in recognition of her commitment to the role of women in Rwanda’s future as an information technology and innovation hub in Africa. Violette is passionate about empowering young women and men to bridge the digital divide and building the leadership capacity of youth.
