Biography
As a Senior Operations Officer, Thom Sinclair leads Gateway Academy, a project that is developing a digital learning marketplace for financial service providers. Gateway Academy’s aim is to continue to grow partnerships with training/content providers and financial service providers to develop a sustainable spin-off business model. Thom has 20 years’ experience in adult learning, capacity building and knowledge management. In addition to his work at CGAP, Thom teaches international development policy and management as a part-time faculty member in the GWU Trachtenberg School of Public Policy and Public Administration.
Before joining CGAP, Thom was a Senior Knowledge Management and Learning Advisor and the Program Cycle Capacity Building Team Lead with USAID’s Policy, Planning and Learning (PPL) Bureau. From 2001-2012 he worked in the private sector for the QED Group and other consulting firms on USAID projects. He worked closely with the USAID Microenterprise Development Office in the areas of value chains and financial inclusion, managing major knowledge management and learning projects (KDMD and AMAP) that developed training, e-learning, seminars/webinars and websites.
Thom holds an MPA from Rutgers in International Public Service and Development and an MA in Political Science from Georgia State University.
