Biography
Thierry Abankwi Ipama is Director and Head of the National Department for Open and Distance Learning at the Ministry of Higher Education, University Education, Scientific Research and Innovation of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. He leads the promotion and implementation of open and distance learning within the national education system.
He also serves as the designated UNESCO focal point for ODL and artificial intelligence, as well as the national focal point for the development of the ODL implementation strategy. In addition, he represents the DRC as Principal Country Lead within the UNESCO-UNICEF Gateways initiative.
Furthermore, he is the Ministry’s focal point for the Government Digital Transformation Project, co-financed by the World Bank and the Agence Française de Développement, contributing to the integration of digital technologies in higher education and the modernisation of the education sector.
