Biography

H.E. Ambassador Rudo Chitiga is the Permanent Secretary in the newly established Ministry of Skills Audit and Development in Zimbabwe. She has held senior management positions in government, civil society, and international organisations including Permanent Secretary in the Office of the President and Cabinet, Ministry of Women Affairs Community Small and Medium Enterprises Development in Zimbabwe, Ambassador of Zimbabwe to France, Spain and Portugal and the Vatican and Permanent Representative and member of the Executive Board of UNESCO and the UNWTO. She is currently a member of the governing board of the UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning.

She is an expert in policy, gender, and development, with over 30 years of experience in strategy formulation, programme development, and management in the fields of adult education and gender mainstreaming in development initiatives. She has regional experience in adult education, institutional capacity development and women, peace and security. She developed programmes to strengthen capacities and voices of women’s rights organisations and civil society in post-conflict programmes and policy development.

She holds a Master’s degree in Policy Studies, a postgraduate qualification in Adult Education, and a degree in Sociology.
