Biography
Akidi Precious Mia is a Telecommunications Engineer and Officer Technical Support at the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC). She supports engineering operations across the Commission, contributing to Quality of Service (QoS) assessments, telecom infrastructure compliance, technical inspections, interference investigations, spectrum monitoring, and handling technical measurements for service-related complaints. She also works closely with UCUSAF on projects that expand rural connectivity, enhance ICT access in schools, promote digital skills, and strengthen e-waste management and device distribution in underserved communities. Akidi has led impactful innovation projects, notably “The Audio Sonification Assistive System for the Blind” and “Optimising DAB and Assessing the Technical Feasibility of Hybrid Radio.” Her work reflects a commitment to inclusive, accessible technology. She is an advocate for women’s participation in STEM and an active member of empowerment organisations such as MEMPROW, championing opportunities for girls and young women in engineering and digital innovation. Precious Mia is driven by a passion for bridging Uganda’s digital divide through sustainable, community-centred solutions.
