Biography
Nyagaki Gichia has 10 years of experience with engineering and education. She advocates for STEM programs in schools in Kenya. Before Team4Tech, Nyagaki worked at International school in Kenya, where she taught high school robotics, ran a maker space, and led student initiatives related to creative product design and plastic recycling. She has experience running hackathons, design thinking workshops, and hardware research projects. She holds a BSc in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the University of Nairobi.
Nyagaki's role at Team4Tech involves working with non-profit partners from 8 countries in Sub-Saharan Africa, allowing deeper, more context-specific support. She has worked with local communities within rural and informal settlements in Kenya, seeking to bridge the gap in access to quality education caused by resource disparities. She brings an understanding of the challenges faced by these communities and the possibilities to overcome them.
