Mindi Kasiga

Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East Africa Cooperation · Tanzania

Biography

Ambassador Mindi Hellen Pamela Kasiga is a diplomat appointed by Her Excellency Dr Samia Suluhu Hassan, President of the United Republic of Tanzania. She currently serves as the Director of Government Communications and Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, overseeing Public Diplomacy and Strategic Communication.

Prior to this role, Ambassador Kasiga was the Director of Marketing at the Tanzania Tourist Board (TTB), the institution mandated with tourism promotion under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism. Despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, she led a team of marketers in implementing a dual approach: encouraging domestic tourism by promoting travel within Tanzania, and boosting international tourism through Tanzania’s diplomatic missions abroad and international airlines operating in the country. This strategy ensured Tanzania remained visible and relevant in the minds of global travellers during the pandemic.

Earlier in her career, Ambassador Kasiga also held key roles in the Ministries of Industry and Trade, and Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, serving as Head of Government Communication and Spokesperson. In these positions, she led teams of journalists and communication professionals in interpreting policy, crafting strategic messaging, and briefing the media on government decisions and initiatives.

Ambassador Kasiga previously served as Minister Counsellor in charge of Communications at the Embassy of the United Republic of Tanzania in Washington, D.C. In addition to her official duties, she visited several primary schools across the DMV area, presenting Tanzania’s historical and touristic attractions to young learners.

Before joining the diplomatic service, she worked with the Directorate of Presidential Communications, serving under the late President Benjamin William Mkapa and President Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete during the third and fourth phases of government leadership in Tanzania.

Ambassador Kasiga holds a Master’s degree in Security and Strategic Studies and the distinguished “ndc” symbol from the National Defence College, Dar es Salaam, Tanzania (2019); a Master’s degree in Diplomacy and Conflict Management from Norwich University, Vermont, USA (2016); and a Bachelor’s degree in Communication Arts: Public Relations and Electronic Media from Wartburg College, Iowa, USA (2002).

A cheerful, patriotic, and dedicated civil servant, Ambassador Kasiga is also a passionate communicator. She is the third-born daughter of the late Dr John Peter Kasiga and Christine Zephania Kasiga. She currently resides in Dodoma with her husband and their two children. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, travelling, watching films, exercising (running, walking, gym, Zumba), attending Bible study sessions, and reading.
