Biography
Millington Bergeson-Lockwood is the Senior Capacity Building Officer - Advanced Learning at the African Legal Support Facility (ALSF), where he administers the flagship e-learning platform, ALSF Academy. He ensures that ALSF’s capacity-building programs are successfully implemented in line with industry best practices, and that knowledge products are produced and disseminated to meet the needs of African government and legal professionals.
Before joining the ALSF, Dr. Bergeson-Lockwood held leadership roles at the United States Agency for International Development, where he managed large multi-sector portfolios and led initiatives focused on advancing locally led development, organizational learning, and program performance across Africa. In addition to his development leadership, Dr. Bergeson-Lockwood holds a PhD in History from the University of Michigan and served as a professor of African American political history and U.S. law and policy. He has taught extensively at the university level and published research examining the intersections of race, law, and public policy.
