Biography
A researcher at the University of Dortmund (Germany), Dr des Michel LEROY has been consulting governments and civil society organisations in the fields of media and development for more than 25 years, helping them to think strategically and manage change.
A journalist by training, he was a senior executive at two French journalism schools. He then pursued an academic career as a researcher specialising in critical discourse analysis, sustainability and social impact. He is about to publish The Sustainability Imperative in Media Development, A Critical Analysis of a Self-Serving Myth (Palgrave).
He is currently directing the Erasmus+ project CoMMPASS (Communicating Migration and Mobility in sub-Saharan Africa), which has developed a Master's level online course fostering an African narrative on migration, aimed at aspiring and practising journalists.
CoMMPASS is available in 4 languages (English, French, Portuguese and Kiswahili) and is offered free of charge to all universities.
