Biography
Michael Onyango is founder of Africa’s Forgotten Bottom Millions (4BM), a programme offering young people in 47 countries in Africa career opportunities through the use of digital technology.
Michael Onyango leads initiatives on economic empowerment, serving in interdisciplinary sectors within governments, NGO’s and the private sector, in Africa and globally. He is a member of the Distributed Ledgers and Artificial Intelligence Taskforce, Ministry of ICT and was previously the Minister responsible for Communication, Information and Technology – County Government of Kisumu.
Michael Onyango is also an alumni Fellow – Social Innovation (Rockefeller Foundation), and presently a Senior Skoll Foundation Fellow. He has contributed to developing The Road Map for Kenya’s creative industries sector, in collaboration with IBM, positioning the sector as a catalyst to Kenya’s economic growth; outlining how to double Kenya’s current creative industries contribution to GDP.
