Mark Hoeksma

Biography

Mark Hoeksma taught at the Graduate School for Teaching and Learning of the University of Amsterdam from 2000 – 2018. He has extensive experience in curriculum development and teacher training in sub-Saharan African countries; most recently in Ethiopia, Malawi and Uganda. He developed interactive courseware for teacher professional development focusing on Active Teaching and Learning which he presented at the eLearning Africa conference in 2011 and 2015. Since four years Mark works as programme developer for Edukans, an international NGO with offices in the Netherlands, Ethiopia, Uganda and Malawi. Mark leads Edukans’ Basic Education programme and coordinates research and development activities. Over the last years Mark has co-developed of the EDU Q card (a digital tool for school quality assessment) which he presented in the eLearning Africa conference in Cote d' Ivoire in 2019.
