Marius Burgat has a Master degree in Agronomy of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Zurich (ETHZ) and obtained later a Master degree in Public Administration from IDHEAP, Lausanne.

Marius is Project Manager in the Program "MOOCs for Development" and contributes to the development of educational activities with academic partner institutions in several countries, for example Senegal, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Cameroon.

Marius has competencies in MOOCs production and implementation and more specifically about the development of activities at the interface between educational technologies and pedagogy. Recently he took in charge the project "pedagogical engineering" designed in order to foster educational practices in the field of STEM (Sciences Technology Engineering Mathematics) on several sub-Saharan campuses. Key words are flipped classroom, production and use of online / on campus educational resources, hybrid educational program, learning outcomes assessment and certification.

Inside the Center for Cooperation and Development, Marius is active in the selection committee "EPFL Seed Money Program" who promotes Scientific and Technology partnership in the Global South.

For 10 years, Marius worked as an advisor at the Vice President for International Relations at EPFL. He has contributed to the definition of the international strategy of EPFL in Asia, particularly in China, and he was active in projects development with private and public partners in Korea, Taiwan, Japan and Singapore.

Before this, Marius served as advisor to the President, in charge of the operational professor's recruitment activities, and initiating and overseeing several institutional change projects. He lead several projects to redesign the career path and promotion system for professors and academic staff members, including academic performance evaluation and promotion systems.

As agronomist and public manager, Marius has strong interest for construction and consolidation of higher education institutions, on campus and online: technology universities, universities of applied sciences, professional school (dual education).
