Biography
Mahamba Sebastian is a Tanzanian secondary school teacher, translator, and interpreter with an MA in Linguistics from St. Agustine University of Tanzania. He is passionate about transforming communities through education and youth empowerment. And a recipient of the KITES Education Award (2021), the Ciena Solutions Challenge Award by the Digital Promise (2022), and the Model School Award (2024). In 2019, he completed the Fulbright TEA fellowship at Montana State University, USA. Mahamba has presented at major conferences, including Africa ELTA (Rwanda & Tanzania), GITE in Kenya, and MPFE in Montana, USA. Mahamba currently serves as Vice President on the Africa ELTA Board and volunteers with the Young African Policy Research Hub (YAPORH) as an education research associate. In April 2025, he was named a Top 50 finalist for the Global Teacher Prize in Dubai.
