Biography
M’Hamed Cherif holds a Masters in Econometrics from the Free University of Brussels, as well as a Ph.D. in Economics. Born in Tunisia, he migrated to Belgium in 1971 at the age of twenty-one. He has worked as a researcher and assistant professor, a World Bank economist, an international consultant and as an interim-CEO of the West Indies Rum & Spirits Producers’ Association. In addition, Cherif also works on business and investment climate issues and private sector development.
Since 2004, he has been involved in supporting the Africa Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) private sector in the negotiation of Economic Partnership Agreements (EPAs) with the European Union through studies and the running of regional seminars on many trade-related issues. In 2006, he became head of the ACP Business Climate facility (BizClim).
