Joseph Muna

Biography

Joseph Muna is an ICT and Satellite Applications aficionado with a wealth of experience in developing novel space-based solutions that address business challenges across varied sectors. Joseph has worked at Avanti Communications, the UK multi-orbit satellite operator, for over 17 years. He is the Head of Projects within Avanti’s education department. Avanti’s Education department specialises in implementing transformational digital solutions within the education sector across Africa by bringing satellite-based internet connectivity into schools in rural regions where terrestrial telecommunication infrastructure is unavailable or limited. It is Avanti’s belief that everyone should have an equal opportunity to be more secure, empowered, and prosperous, and that every child should have the opportunity to attain their full potential.

Prior to joining Avanti, Joseph worked at Virgin Trains for over 5 years as Digital Systems Architect, supporting the organisation to optimise business operations aboard its fleet of trains by transitioning from hand-held Electronic Points of Presence (EPOS) to state-of-the-art onboard computer systems.

Joseph holds a BSc and an MSc in Computer Science from the University of Reading.

He lives in the UK with his family and enjoys gardening, cooking, and a variety of sporting and outdoor pursuits in his spare time.
