Biography
Gisela Spreitzhofer is the Team Leader for Governance and Security within the Cooperation Section of the Delegation of the European Union to Ghana since September 2025.
An international relations professional with close to two decades of experience in policymaking and project implementation with the European Commission in the areas of development cooperation and migration, she previously served as International Relations Officer at the Directorate General for Migration and Home Affairs in Brussels, Belgium. She has also held Programme Manager positions in the EU Delegations to Libya, Niger, South Sudan and Pakistan where she worked extensively on migration management, community stabilisation, human rights, civil society and the rule of law.
Ms. Spreitzhofer holds degrees in law and social and cultural anthropology from the University of Vienna in Austria and the University of Lille in France. She also possesses an M.A. in International Relations from the School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) of the Johns Hopkins University in Washington, D.C.
