Biography
Dr Getahun Mekonnen is the Lead Advisor for Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) for the e-SHE Program at the Ethiopian Ministry of Education. With more than eighteen years of experience across the education, development, public, private, and international sectors, he specialises in monitoring and evaluation systems, higher education reform, institutional transformation, and digital learning.
Throughout his career, he has worked with organisations including the International Finance Corporation (IFC)/World Bank Group, Bahir Dar University, Assist International, Ethio Telecom, and the Amhara Investment Commission. His work focuses on strengthening systems, promoting evidence-based decision-making, and advancing sustainable development initiatives.
Through his leadership in the e-SHE Program, Dr Getahun has supported the advancement of blended and online learning within Ethiopian higher education institutions. He is also recognised for his expertise in programme management, policy analysis, organisational development, and multistakeholder collaboration in the fields of education innovation and digital transformation.
