Gerry van der Hulst

Biography

Gerry van der Hulst (born 1961) has been living and working in Rwanda since 2015. She is the director of Three Mountains Learning Advisors, a Rwandan-based company specialising in designing training materials, particularly e-learning. With an enthusiastic team of 14 instructional designers, videographers, illustrators, and trainers, the company has developed e-courses for adults, covering a wide range of topics. Additionally, the company operates a Life Skills Academy offering blended e-courses for young graduates. Apart from digital resources, the company also creates teaching tools for non-digital environments, such as flipbooks and curricula, and organises team-building and leadership retreats.

Gerry has a passion for learning, training, and facilitating. She believes that understanding the target audience is crucial during the design process, and she finds great value in field visits, working with test groups, and analysing learning statistics. Questions about the course's appropriateness, device compatibility, visual appeal, and cultural relevance are always on her mind.

Her dedication to learning is evident in her extensive academic background, which spans from Occupational Therapy to Strategic Management in the Non-Profit sector, and from Sociology to Coaching-Counseling, culminating in expertise in designing e-learning courses.
