Biography

Gabriel Konayuma is a policy maker in technical and vocational education and training sector in the Zambian Ministry of Higher Education Ministry. His key responsibilities are entrepreneurship development promotion and promotion of open, distance learning and flexible learning and promotion of educational technologies. In his spare time Gabriel also supervises research by Master of Business Administration students from the Management College of Southern Africa. Gabriel has facilitated capacity building workshops in use of educational technologies in ODFL and entrepreneurship. 

Gabriel completed his Master of Education (specialising in ICTs in Education) in 2015 from the University of Cape Town and also has a Masters in Business Administration from Management College of Southern Africa.  He has also been trained as an Online Facilitator and has a postgraduate qualification in African Leadership in ICTs. His research interests are the use of ICTs in resource constrained environments and the use of open educational resources in vocational training. Gabriel is part of the e/Merge Africa which convenes online meetings and conferences and contributes to the network's annual face-to-face workshop at  eLearning Africa. Gabriel has taught Mathematics and Computer Studies to secondary school students. He has also taught Computer Science, Mathematics and Management Information Systems at the Copperbelt University in Zambia. 

Gabriel enjoys sharing his knowledge and expertise and is keen to learn from others as well as network with e-Learning professionals within and outside Africa. He has presented papers at eLearning Africa, International Conference on e-Learning (2018) and the Emerging Technologies in Education Conference held in Cape Town in 2015. Gabriel has also had articles published in  UNESCO publications and is a contributing author to a book: Vocational Education and Training in Sub-Saharan Africa: Current Situation and Development.
