Biography
Frank van Cappelle is the head of UNICEF’s Global Learning Innovation Hub in Finland and the global lead for digital education. In this role, Frank shapes UNICEF’s vision and strategy for learning innovation, digital learning, and the digital transformation of education systems. The Hub is driven by a dual mission: to harness innovations to address the global learning crisis and to shape the future of learning now. The Hub is currently leveraging AI to bridge the accessibility gap for children with disabilities, through its Accessible Digital Textbooks initiative. Frank holds a Ph.D. in Education from the University of Melbourne, and has also worked in academia, at UNESCO, and various other UN agencies. He also founded a tech company, pioneering one of the first free interactive dashboard tools in 2008, which enabled UN agencies, governments and universities worldwide to harness data for social impact.
