Biography
Esko Lius is a Senior Specialist in Digital Learning Solutions at Häme University of Applied Sciences (HAMK), Finland. He works at the intersection of pedagogy, technology, and teacher development, with a strong emphasis on authentic learning and vocational education. Esko has over two decades of experience facilitating digital transformation in general, vocational, and higher education, both in Finland and through international projects in Sub-Saharan Africa, the Balkans, and the Middle East.
He specialises in co-creating scalable, contextually relevant digital learning solutions with educators, and has a particular interest in immersive simulations, open digital badges, and emerging approaches to competence recognition. Esko is known for his inclusive facilitation style and ability to bring diverse stakeholders into productive dialogue. He is currently part of the XR Tanzania project, exploring how mobile-based simulations can enhance skills development and employability.
