Biography
As Director of the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Sparkman Center for Globla Health, Dr. Wilson has been integrally involved in capacity building around health care worker and general education trainings since 2007. He has worked predominantly in Zambia and Ethiopia but also worked with others addressing similar challenges in many African countries and universities as part of the US PEPFAR funded Medical and Nursing Education Partnership Initiatives (MEPI and NEPI) since 2011. Again with UAB Sparkman Center support, he supported development of IT capacity in Zambia (Bongo Hive and Hacker's Guild) and Ethiopia (Support Education) and coordinated their collaboration in addressing challenges with IT infrastructure learning materials. Dr Wilson is a Pediatric Infectious Disease specialist with over 30 years of expereince in HIV care including activities in resource constrained settings for over 15 years. His is now Emeritus Professor of Epidemiology and Pediatrics at UAB.
