Biography
Dr. Claver Hategekimana is the Director of Institutional Research and eLearning at Skagit Valley College in Washington State. He is dedicated to removing barriers, offering students a high-quality learning experience to increase their academic success. His research covers effectiveness of educational programs, presenting data in a meaningful format to the end user for way for decision-making, exploring technologies that overcome time and location constraints, and promoting accessibility while reducing equity gaps.
Hategekimana is also interested in ensuring quality in course design and delivery, regardless of the instructional modality. His educational background includes a doctoral degree in Human-Computer Interaction with a focus on Curriculum and Instructional Technology, as well as a master’s degree in Management Information Systems with a specialization in E-Commerce.
One of the hobbies of Hategekimana is solar electricity. He developed Light4Village, a solar kit for homes of those who live-off-the grid because power lines are non-existent in their neighborhoods. He leads summer service-learning projects that have wired more than 120 homes in rural villages of East Africa.
