Biography
Chantal Uwiragiye is an education specialist with more than 15 years of experience in teaching, developing literacy and numeracy instructional materials, teacher training and teacher CPD. In the past 10 years, she has worked alongside Rwanda Education Board as an instructional materials developer with Education Development Center and as a literacy specialist with FHI 360, where she oversaw the development and implementation of Rwanda’s first accredited online course for Kinyarwanda teachers in early grade reading. She has also worked on the ACCELERE early grade reading program in the DRC. She currently works with Education Development Trust’s Building Learning Foundations programme, coordinating the development of Mathematics teacher self-study materials and supporting their use by lower primary teachers.
Ms. Uwiragiye is a Kinyarwanda speaker and proficient in English and French. She holds a M.Ed from Mahatma Gandhi University, a bachelor’s degree in Education from the University of Rwanda, a diploma in Early Childhood Care and Education from the Indira Ghandi National Open University and a certificate in 'How Children in Developing Countries Learn to Read' from the College of Education, University of Massachussets, Armherst.
