Biography
Birgit Nevala is the Programme Director of Finnpartnership program at Finnfund, since 2013. Finnpartnership is a program of Finnish Ministry for Foreign Affairs. The purpose is to facilitate Matchmaking between Finnish companies, and organisations and companies and organisations in emerging markets. And to give seed funding as grants for long term business projects such as JV, subsidiary, subcontracting, franchising, lisencing and exporting to Finland, the kind of commercial activities that create sustainable jobs. Education is on of the biggest sectors.
From 2000 - 2012, Birgit was the Development Cooperation and Communications manager at U-landshjälp från Folk till Folk i Finland. They are responsible for development cooperation, on annual basis for 4 million euros mainly consisting of building and establishing teracher training colleges and vocational schools and farmers trainings and preschools in Mozambique, Malawi and Angola. Other responsibilities: global education, marketing and fundraising. In addition, she was a Lecturer at Helsinki University, 2000, for Introduction to African Cultures.
