Biography

Ayub is a teacher, Project manager and ICT enthusiast in Uganda with over 17 years’ experience in using ICTs to enhance education and community development.

In 2009, he was instrumental in initiating the Teachers’ ICT Retooling Program in Uganda, a joint effort between Ministry of Education and Sports and Uganda Communications Commission.  This program has trained retooled over 1,500 teachers from Ugandan Schools to teach ICT. He is the lead trainer for this ICT Retooling Program, responsible for course development, implementation and assessment.

He has participated in a number of initiatives to introduce ICTs in education and communities. He was a key member of Women of Uganda (WOUGNET) and Uganda Communications Youth ICT and Gender camps to sensitise youths about ICTs throughout Uganda.

He has managed a number of projects that introduce innovative practices in Education. He was project manager for the Wold Bank’s YouthIT Project and was one of the first facilitators of online learning programs for teacher training  in Africa.

While working with SchoolNet Uganda as Special Projects Coordinator, Ayub helped to train teachers and school administrators in the use and management of ICTs.

As a practicing teacher, Ayub teaches Geography at Mengo Senior School and is the ICT Projects Coordinator. He coordinates a number of school projects that connect students to peers in other countries, notably Norway, U.S.A, Argentina and Kenya.
