Biography
Dr Amos Muhunda Nungu is a distinguished Tanzanian academic and public servant, currently serving as the Director General of the Tanzania Commission for Science and Technology (COSTECH). With a robust background in Information and Communication Technology (ICT), he is a key figure in shaping Tanzania's scientific and technological landscape.
Dr. Nungu holds a Ph.D. and Master’s in Telecommunication Systems from the KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Sweden, and a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from the University of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
Dr. Nungu began his professional career at the Dar es Salaam Institute of Technology (DIT), where he rose to the rank of Senior Lecturer. During his tenure at DIT, he also served as the Chief Executive Officer of the Tanzania Education and Research Network (TERNET) from 2012 to 2016. Subsequently, he joined the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology as an Assistant Director in the Directorate of Science, Technology, and Innovation. In this role, he was instrumental in shaping national policies and strategies to promote scientific research and technological advancement.
Dr. Amos Nungu's contributions have significantly impacted Tanzania's scientific and technological landscape. Through his leadership at COSTECH and his previous roles, he has championed initiatives that foster innovation, support research, and promote the integration of ICT in national development. His work continues to inspire and pave the way for future advancements in the region.
