Hon. Prof. Adolf Mkenda

Biography

Hon. Prof. Adolf Mkenda currently serves as the Minister for Education, Science and Technology of the United Republic of Tanzania. The Ministry is responsible for overseeing the entire education sector from pre-primary to university level as well as promoting the advancement of science, technology, and innovation across the country. Before his current appointment, Hon. Mkenda served as the Minister of Agriculture. He holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Gothenburg in Sweden and was previously an Associate Professor of Economics at the University of Dar es Salaam. Prior to entering politics in 2020, Hon. Mkenda held several senior positions within the government. He served as Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, and the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment. He also had the privilege to serve as Deputy Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Finance.
