Biography
Abdul joined Acumen in 2019 and leads K-12 education investments in East Africa, deploying a $10M Facility which was launched in January 2020. Prior to Acumen, Abdul was an Investment Manager with Grand Challenges Canada, one of the largest impact-first investors in Canada, where Abdul focused on mHealth and humanitarian innovations tackling global health challenges. Also, Abdul has supported UNICEF’s Office of Innovation as a business model mentor, in addition to working with Social Venture Partners-Toronto (a global network of engaged philanthropy that supports local non-profits). Abdul is a recovering engineer who spent several years designing and deploying robots to inspect nuclear power plants. He holds an MBA from the Rotman School of Management (University of Toronto). Abdul loves photography, learning new random facts, and being the best uncle to his niece.
