Publications and Surveys

eLearning Africa conducts regular surveys and publishes reports, such as the eLearning Africa Report - the essential Guide to EdTech, Digital Technology, and Learning and Development in Africa. Our Reports are a leading source of news, information, and analysis about ICT, EdTech, digital technology, learning and development.

With contributions from experts, practitioners, advisers, entrepreneurs, students and even artists, they provide a fascinating insight into how technology assisted learning and training are leading change and development throughout Africa. Ranging across the education and training spectrum, they provide an insight into how a host of developments, from improved connectivity, blockchain, and open education resources to distributed learning, gamification and greater gender equality, are likely to affect learning outcomes in Africa.

Available free to download, the eLearning Africa Report 2019 combines news, features, interviews and profiles of leading figures with controversial opinion columns, a survey of 900 education and technology experts, detailed country reports and the Directory of African EdTech companies.

eLearning Africa not only produces its own reports but also works in partnership with other organisations to provide specialised reporting and analysis on particular topics. Our recent report on 'The Impact of Covid-19 on Education in Africa,' which was produced in partnership with the EdTech Hub, involved a detailed survey of our network and was published in September 2020, is a case in point. Driving Digital and Green Skills: Cooperation with Private Sector in Africa

Commissioned by GIZ, eLearning Africa and Jigsaw Education examined the private sector provision of digital and green skills across 25 African countries.

The report maps the digital skills landscape, analysing key providers, skills levels, technologies used, and emerging green skills.

Findings show a focus on foundational digital skills, a well-established but fragmented private sector ecosystem, and growing green skills training - particularly in renewable energy, sustainable agriculture, and environmental education.

Recommendations entail prioritising marginalised groups and early job-ready skills, strengthening public–private collaboration, scaling inclusive and climate-focused EdTech solutions, and better aligning digital and green skills to support employment and climate resilience.
