Biography

Pauline Mcleod is a mother with an agricultural business background and a retired primary school teacher of over 20 years specialising in literacy and e-learning. She has travelled extensively into remote areas in the world developing a passion for disadvantaged children. She worked with World Vision New Zealand in developing a successful interactive online project between a family in Malawi and New Zealand Schools.

Pauline brought this skill to Uganda in 2014 and has worked tirelessly to enhance literacy and technology in 6 remote Ugandan Primary Schools called The Sunflower Project. Through this Pauline saw the need for quality culturally appropriate story books and became an author/illustrator (HerbAnn Publications) of over 25 books, forming the foundation for libraries found in the Sunflower Schools. Pauline brought to The Sunflower Schools a partnership with World Literacy Foundation Sun Books app, (a digital library.)

With frequent visits to Uganda and the use of technology a unique, community of learners has developed spreading out into these communities whereas a result of her attendance of a UNESCO online course on Intergenerational learning we can see Grandmothers as prime caregivers now reading and writing with their families.

Pauline McLeod brings to you a unique story of joyous proportions, where commitment, passion and risk taking have given this community an opportunity to take charge of their own learning.
