Biography
Jean-Louis CORRÉA is a lawyer and professor trained at Gaston Berger University, Saint-Louis, Senegal. Before obtaining his LL. M. diploma and a Ph. D. in Law, and in Switzerland, at the University of Lausanne. he was a guest researcher and assistant at the Summer school of the Institute of federalism, University of Fribourg, Switzerland.
After nearly ten years at the Assane Seck University in Ziguinchor, with private law aggregation competition in his pocket, in 2015, he joined the Virtual University of Senegal in January 2018. He was the former Dean of the faculty (Pôle) of Law, economic and management. Since November 2021, he’s the acting Director of Studies, Research and Innovation at UVS in charge of the academic coordination. Professor Corréa is the founder, at UVS, of the Legaltech bachelor program, marriage of law and ICT.
In the field of ICT, he is Chairman of the Scientific Committee of Séraphin Legal, a major Legaltech enterprise in Paris. He chairs the "legal and competition" working group of the Ministry of Commerce for the development of e-commerce in Senegal. Pr. Corréa also chairs the working group of the Ministry of Digital and Telecommunications for the reform of texts organizing digital technology in Senegal (LOSI 2008). He’s also international expert for the implementation of e-learning processes for African’s governments.
He is the author of several specialized books and scientific articles. He recently published a Tribune in the magazine "Jeune Afrique" on "The uses of digital technology in Africa", as a member of the Institute of Digital Fundamental Rights, based in Paris.
On the associative level, he was the President of the Basketball Club of the Assane Seck University of Ziguinchor (ASUC).
Pr. Corréa's main areas of research relate to digital law, more particularly personal data and privacy.
