Biography
April Somboun is the Education Research and Innovation Manager at the Airbel Impact Lab, the innovation and research arm of the International Rescue Committee (IRC). Based in New York City, she supports the implementation of projects across the portfolio of Education Global Research and Innovation Priorities (GRIP) to provide quality and sustainable education solutions to last-mile children, parents, and caregivers. The education GRIP team is currently working in Bangladesh, Colombia, and Nigeria.
April's career has focused on partnerships and marketing within the non-profit and corporate sectors, where she has created campaigns and in-school programs benefiting children and their families with a focus on economic mobility, financial literacy, and health. Before joining the Airbel Impact Lab, she was on the IRC's Afghan Priority 2 team and worked for organizations such as Scholastic, Inc., and the Council for Economic Education.
She holds a Master of Public Administration from Columbia University's School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA) and a Bachelor's degree from the University of Washington.
