Biography
John Kimotho is a researcher, consultant, and EdTech architect. He serves as Head of Office, Africa for the Spix Foundation and is the lead consultant for the AUDA-NEPAD Africa EdTech 2030 Vision and Plan. In this role, he has played a central part in developing the framework that Mwanga wa Elimu aims to implement.
He previously spent 18 years at Kenya’s Institute of Curriculum Development, where he established digital radio and television production studios and led the institute to win three consecutive KUZA awards. Through this work, he developed extensive expertise in the practical implementation of education technology at scale.
John brings deep operational insight into education systems across Africa, combining policy knowledge with a grounded understanding of classroom realities, procurement processes, and administrative constraints. His experience enables him to analyse the structural challenges that education leaders face when integrating technology into learning environments.
He is currently the founding director of Trinity Education Technologies Solutions Africa (TETA), where his work focuses on identifying and addressing the operational barriers that limit effective technology adoption across diverse educational contexts on the continent.
