Biography
Safary Wa-Mbaleka is an associate professor of leadership in higher education at Bethel University, USA. He holds a PhD in instructional design for online learning. He started teaching online in 2003 in the USA. He has designed and taught dozens of university courses online. Over the last 15 years, he trained and mentored university faculty in online course design and teaching in the USA, the Caribbean, Asia, and Africa. He is the lead editor of The SAGE Handbook of Online Higher Education accepted for publication at the end of this year. He has been an online faculty, instructional designer, director of online instructional design, and director of online education. He was one of the pillars who spearheaded the design of the national standards for online higher education in the Republic of Kenya. He is currently working as a consultant for MasterCard Foundation's e-Learning Africa Initiative. He is a prolific author who is passionate about research and online education.
