Biography
Rodney Bollie is a dynamic engineer with a robust 16-year career in communications technology, focusing on 4G, 5G, and satellite systems. He holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical and computer engineering from The George Washington University in Washington, D.C. and Rodney is also currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Information Science and Communications at Robert Morris University in Pennsylvania U.S.A.
Alongside his wife, Dr. Sylvia Bollie MD, Rodney co-leads the Institute of Basic Technology, a nonprofit advocating for STEM education in economically challenged communities in Liberia. Its mission revolves around an innovative teaching model designed to improve learning outcomes by addressing critical factors like limited vocabulary, impact of maternal education, family structure, access to educational materials, etc. The model's profound impact on educational advancement was felt when students who previously struggled academically, exceled in the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) and graduated on time.
Rodney’s commitment to STEM education earned him the Science Spectrum Trailblazer award at the 2023 Black Engineer of the Year Award recognition, celebrating his efforts in empowering hundreds of Liberian students.
