Biography
Ralf Hermann, PhD, is Head of GOVET, German Office for International Cooperation in Vocational Education and Training, at BIBB (Fed. Institute for Vocational Education). He was Head of DAAD South Africa, lectured at the Universities of Witwatersrand, Belgrade and Leipzig, and at private institutions of language and adult education in Germany and Serbia (DAAD). He consulted the German Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) on international cooperation in research, innovation and education, e.g. with Sub-Saharan and MENA countries (DLR-PT), and worked on international curricular development (DW Academy). He graduated from Leipzig and Edinburgh in African studies, intercultural literary studies, and German as a Foreign Language.
GOVET is a joint facility of various Fed. Govt. Depts., headed by BMBF, established in 2013 as a core element of the Government’s strategy for international cooperation in VET:
- contact point for national and international VET cooperation stakeholders
- Secretariat of the national Round Table on international VET cooperation,
- transfer of VET know-how into government services and stakeholder dialogues, project cooperation (e.g. South Africa, Ghana).
