Biography

Omo Oaiya is an executive leader in digital infrastructure and higher education systems transformation, serving as Chief Strategy Officer at the West and Central African Research and Education Network (WACREN). He provides strategic leadership in the design and implementation of regional digital platforms that support research, open science and technology-enabled learning across Africa. He is the founder of LIBSENSE, WACREN’s flagship open science programme, which he initiated and developed in partnership with regional and international stakeholders to strengthen open science ecosystems, institutional repositories and scholarly communication frameworks across the continent. Through this work, he supports NRENs and universities to implement sustainable systems for knowledge management, data governance and open access. He also served as WACREN coordinator for the Africa Digital Campus (ADC) project, now WACREN’s digital education initiative, where he oversaw the deployment of shared online learning systems, federated identity services and online video platforms that enable scalable, distributed learning models across institutions. Omo’s leadership combines vision with execution, strengthening the digital backbone for resilient, interconnected and future-ready higher education systems in Africa.
