Biography
Michelle Zirkel is a lecturer, research fellow, and Ph.D. student at the University of Bamberg's Department of English Language Education in Germany. She is part of the DiSo-SGW research project, focusing on developing, testing, implementing, and disseminating innovative language teacher training modules as online Open Educational Resources. These modules aim to facilitate digital transformation in education and foster digital competencies among language educators, mainly concentrating on utilizing immersive virtual reality for teaching the SDGs and fostering global citizenship education in the context of English language education, which is also the topic of her Ph.D. thesis. She holds a state exam (equivalent to a master's degree) from the University of Würzburg in Spanish, English, American culture, literature, linguistics, pedagogy, and psychology. She studied and taught languages to secondary-school students, undergraduate and graduate students in Ireland, Spain, and Germany.
