Biography
Eric Kimenyi N. is the Manager, Digital Skills with the Tony Blair Institute in Rwanda and he works to support the Ministry of ICT and Innovation through its implementing agency the Rwanda Information Society Authority (RISA) on their digital skills development initiatives for both public and private sector stakeholders.
Before joining TBI, Eric was the Program Manager for the Teacher Training Program under the African Institute of Mathematical Sciences (AIMS - TTP). The AIMS- TTP’s overall goal was to train all secondary school teachers in Rwanda on Gender sensitive teaching technics and to strengthen their capabilities to teach Mathematics and the Sciences (Biology, Physics and Chemistry) through the increased use of ICTs.
Prior to joining AIMS, Eric was the National Coordinator for the One Laptop per Child (OLPC) programme. The OLPC programme is government funded and run through the Rwanda Basic Education Board of the Ministry of Education. Under Eric’s leadership of the OLPC programme, the Ministry of Education deployed more than 275,400 laptops covering all primary schools then with access to power across Rwanda.
Eric worked with the EdTech Hub, the World Bank and the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD) to enhance online and distance learning systems, Eric has had various publications with the EdTech hub.
Eric holds a BEng in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering from the University of Bradford (UK), an MBA from the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (Kenya) and an MSc in Education – Learning, Technology and Society from the University of Bristol (UK).
