Biography
Daniel Wagner is UNESCO Chair in Learning and Literacy and Professor of Education at the University of Pennsylvania. He is the Founding Director of the International Literacy Institute, co-established by UNESCO and the University of Pennsylvania, and has also led major initiatives including the National Center on Adult Literacy and PennGSE’s International Educational Development Program.
With a PhD in Psychology from the University of Michigan and earlier training in Engineering at Cornell University, Dr Wagner has extensive experience in international education, literacy, learning, and development. He has served as an advisor to UNESCO, UNICEF, the World Bank, USAID, DFID, and other international organisations on education and development issues. Dr Wagner has authored and edited more than 25 books, with work translated into several languages, and continues to contribute widely to global discussions on learning, literacy, marginalisation, education quality, and international development.
