Biography
Aruj Khaliq is an award-winning intervention scientist and AI policy advisor whose work shapes how education systems govern Artificial Intelligence with integrity, agency, and public purpose. With over 13 years of experience across education, tech and policy, she designs large-scale, policy-aligned interventions at the intersection of AI governance, human judgement, and sustainable development.
Aruj graduated from the University of Oxford, where she pursued AI-centred policy and sustainable development as her core areas of inquiry. She advises governments and education systems on ethical AI adoption, teacher-centred governance, and institutional readiness, and she is currently a Women in AI fellow with EDSAFE AI. She is the founder of ALIF and an advisor to Pakistan's government as a member of the National Artificial Intelligence Task Force. Her work on education-focused AI governance and sustainable development has earned recognition from leading global institutions including UNESCO, UCL, UNDP, and the International Baccalaureate. Ms Khaliq divides her time between the UK and Pakistan, advancing policy, research, and leadership on AI for educational sovereignty.
