Biography
Anna Shoma Isanzu is a dynamic education and training professional with 16 years of experience, including nine in senior leadership roles within programme management and teacher development. With a strong passion for inclusive, high-quality education, Anna has consistently demonstrated her ability to design, implement, and evaluate impactful training initiatives.
In her most recent role as Programme Manager for Secondary Education at the U.S. Peace Corps in Tanzania, she led strategic programme coordination, stakeholder engagement with government ministries, and professional development initiatives for both Tanzanian educators and international volunteers. Anna’s leadership has had a significant impact on educational capacity building across the country. She has successfully coordinated in-service training for over 200 teachers annually and played a pivotal role in mainstreaming safe school practices in numerous Tanzanian schools. She is currently implementing a pilot project titled Doing Schools Better in Tanzania in collaboration with the Korda Institute for Teaching.
Anna has also held roles as a Programme and Training Specialist and as a Language and Cross-Culture Facilitator at the Peace Corps, where she contributed to curriculum development, training delivery, and cross-cultural exchange. In addition, she has experience as a secondary school teacher.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Education from the University of Dar es Salaam, as well as professional certifications including TESOL (University of Wisconsin), a Leadership Certificate from the UONGOZI Institute and Aalto University, and Kiswahili Trainer for Foreigners certification from the National Kiswahili Language Council. Anna is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Project Management at the Tanzania Institute of Project Management.
