Theoneste Uwayezu

Biography

Theoneste Uwayezu, The country Director of Focus on mothers and children is a young social entrepreneur who is passionate in helping the community especially rural areas. He has a background of computer science with education in which he has 8 years of working experience.  

Today, he teaches computer science based courses at university. He likes helping young entrepreneurs and mentoring activities. Since 2016, he is a mentor at kLab Rwanda. In 2017, he became also a mentor at New York Academy of Science (NYAS). 

He initiated various initiatives which aims at developing rural areas of the country. Among them, we may note the local NGOs (Focus on mothers and children), Businesses (ICT for all in all Ltd, Lengo ltd), and participated in various volunteering activities.  In his education career, he is busy in trying to spread e-learning facilities in the whole country. He is experienced in this matter. He is now one of Microsoft Innovative Educators Experts (MIEE), recognized by Microsoft at global level.

He has various trainings both local, regional and international in ICT with education like ICT and Pedagogical development gained from Sweden. Again, Theoneste Uwayezu is a national curriculum developer, national subject trainer and teaching learning materials evaluator at national level where he actively participaed in activities of developing competence based curriculum in Rwanda Education Board. He dreams to digitalize education systems and to improve the quality of education at both local and global level.
