Nicky Wako
Advocacy and Donor Engagement Manager for AfricaConnect 3 Project, GÉANT.
Nicky Wako joined GÉANT to helm the Advocacy and Donor engagements Activities of the AfricaConnect 3 Project, the pan-African connectivity project that aims to support the development and consolidation of high-capacity regional internet networks for R&E across Africa, a continental gateway for collaborative research and education across and beyond Africa.
Before pivoting to the National Research and Education Network sector, Nicky spent 12 years in public policy, working in grassroots civil society organisations, international NGOs, and multilateral diplomacy.
At GÉANT, she leverages her strong background, and the lessons gained from managing multistakeholder engagements enables her to cultivate multisector synergies for the African NRENs community and Digitalisation efforts.
Nicky unapologetically champions Africa’s research and tech community to better the African Continent.
