Biography

A/Prof Judith McKenzie is head of the Disability Studies Division at the University of Cape Town in the Department of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences. She convened the postgraduate diploma in Disability Studies for 5 years where she led the move from a block taught course to an online blended learning mode. She also supervises masters and doctoral students and is  the principal investigator responsible for the Teacher Empowerment for Disability Inclusion (TEDI) project in  collaboration with CBM, co-funded by CBM and the European Union. In this project she collaborates with other universities and civil society to develop and evaluate teacher education for children with disabilities within an inclusive education framework.  She is the lead educator on three online courses on disability inclusion.  She has worked in the field of inclusive education for over 20 years at all levels of the education system and published on the topic.
